Dr Roger Fitzgerald Doctor Fitzgerald was born in the small South Gippsland town of Dumbalk in 1953. After graduating from Leongatha High School he went to Melbourne University to study medicine, commencing there in 1970 and graduating in 1977. Following graduation he worked as a young doctor at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and then spent two years doing General Practitioner training with stints at various Hospital’s including the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital. He also spent 12 months in England studying anaesthetics and a further six months in England studying Obstetrics before returning to commence practice at the Deakin Medical Clinic in Traralgon in 1983. Doctor Fitzgerald has worked at the same Clinic since that time and he is currently involved in practicing family medicine as a General Practitioner as well as being responsible for Obstetric care and delivery of patients at the Latrobe Regional Hospital, Traralgon. Doctor Fitzgerald’s medical interests include the full gamut of general practice from babies through to the elderly, and he has regular sessions where he attends the many nursing homes and special accommodation houses in the Traralgon area. Doctor Fitzgerald also attends the Maryvale Private Hospital and is involved in care of patients in the Macallister (psycho-geriatric) and Erica (geriatric) wards at the Latrobe Regional Hospital. |
